PurelyBlu — what can we say… best charter ever!!
PurelyBlu — what can we say… best charter ever!! We had a fantastic time! Starting with the PurelyBlu owners stepping up to offer us a charter for our week after our charter that had been booked for a year was cancelled at the last minute! Thank you so much to the owners and the crew! The PurelyBlu is a beautiful boat — fantastic layout with big bathrooms and great water-making ability! The Tenderlift at the back of the boat was amazing, especially for us older folks! It made it so easy to get in and out of the water. Very comfortable areas on the boat, behind the captain and in front — great for lounging! And the back table was perfect for eating and games! The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. Slept like a baby! We will definitely miss being rocked to sleep every night! But it was our crew who made our vacation so very special — they were both absolutely amazing. Captain Sammy was so knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable on the boat. He has great southern charm, and is funny and entertaining. He took us to some AMAZING spots and was always quick to remind us that this was our vacation and he wanted to make it special for us. And he did! Chef Marisol is an exceptional chef. Her creativity, flavors, and presentation made us feel like we were at a 5-star resort every day. She was very conscientious about our food likes and dislikes, and every meal was so special, just for us. She worked tirelessly to make sure we were well taken care of. Spring Break family charter
We booked PurelyBlu for a family vacation over Spring Break, and it honestly exceeded every expectation we had. From the moment we stepped on board, the crew made us feel completely taken care of — nothing was too much to ask, and they genuinely seemed to love what they do. The food alone was worth the trip. Every meal felt like an experience — fresh, beautifully presented, and somehow exactly what we were craving. The kids were just as well fed and happy as we were. But the highlight? The pirate scavenger hunt. Our kids (ages 4 and 7) are still talking about it. The crew went all out — treasure maps, clues hidden around the boat, the works. It wasn't some generic activity to keep the kids busy. It was thoughtful, creative, and had our kids absolutely losing their minds with excitement. They felt like real pirates on a real adventure, and my husband and I got to just sit back and watch them have the time of their lives. Between the incredible snorkeling spots, the water toys, and the most stunning anchorages, every single day felt like its own little adventure. PurelyBlu doesn't just run a charter — they create an experience your family will never forget. We're already talking about when we're going back.

PurelyBlu is like a 5 star resort at sea. What can I say but that it has been such a magical experience for each and every one of us. We knew from the moment we boarded the catamaran that we were in very capable hands with Captain Sammy. The ride to Exumas was very choppy and unsettling and Sammy put us all at ease, and reassured us that all would be fine… and it was!! He is incredibly skilled and knowledgeable… he took us to the best places and showed us the most interesting sites. Our children especially enjoyed chatting and playing with Captain Sammy to the point where he even got roped in to spoon feeding their dinner!! We cannot thank him enough for his incredible hospitality. Chef Marisol elevated our PurelyBlu experience to another level! With only 3 months tenure on the boat, she has managed to create an exceptionally high quality culinary experience for her guests… and with such a small kitchen too!! Every meal, every snack, everything she put her hands on was made with love. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish because they were light, fresh and bursting with flavour. Marisol truly has a gift for cuisine and we love how she infuses her Mexican heritage in what she prepares. Nothing was too much trouble for her and we truly loved and appreciated everything she did for us and the kids. Highlights Pirate Treasure Hunt What an awesome idea!! The children absolutely loved the treasure hunt. Marisol and Sammy were dressed as pirates and the kids got so excited running around looking for clues. They especially loved the treasure chest full of treats at the end. Thank you for organising such a fun activity for them. We loved the lazy river experience in Shroud Cay and swimming through the “washing machine” and exploring the mangroves and looking for turtles. Closing Thank-You Marisol / Sammy Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts for taking such good care of us these last few days. We cannot tell you enough how nice it feels to not have to think about or do anything but hop on board and enjoy the ride, the food and the scenery. And we did all of the above!! We have two new friends!] We tried all the toys. Saw shark wrecks. Spear fished and ate what Sammy caught! We sunbathed. We burned. We ate. We drank. We laughed. Played games. Watched a great documentary. We overcame fears, tried new things. Probably some of the best family bonding of any trip! Marisol & Sammy are a fabulous team. They were prepared for the day to day and some surprises too! Our kids felt celebrated, as we wanted them to be. Overall, there is nothing to criticize. John and Madison have both spent years running dive operations across Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and California. Guests aboard PurelyBlu get a captain and chef who read the water the same way, which means dive days, snorkel stops, and shoreside plans are built by two people who already know what the conditions will allow. Madison cooks for guests who came here for the water. John gets them there.

Madison's cooking began at home, where her mother's gifted hand made the galley familiar long before it became professional. Over years spent as a galley assistant aboard yachts and sailboats, she worked alongside chefs from around the world, absorbing their techniques and their tempo while producing meals for up to 20 guests and 8 crew. That apprenticeship shaped how she cooks now: intuitive, adaptable, and built for life at sea.
What sets Madison apart is how completely she belongs on the water. She grew up in Santa Barbara, California, earned her open water certification at 15, and turned that early obsession into a career, becoming a PADI dive instructor and spending eight years working across Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and California. A technical diver, freediver, and underwater photographer, she also holds a 100-ton captain's license, has five years of sailing experience, and co-owns a 45-foot sailboat she and her partner cruise through Florida and the Caribbean.
Aboard PurelyBlu, Madison brings a rare combination to the galley. She understands the water as intimately as the menu, and she cooks for guests who came here for both.

Captain John Livergood brings a decade of professional sailing experience and a lifetime on the water. A USCG 100-Ton Master and superyacht Chief Engineer, he has run vessels across the Pacific, South Pacific, Western Caribbean, Bahamas, Florida Keys, the ICW, and the East Coast, and worked as a delivery captain throughout Florida.
His engineering background sets him apart. Owners and guests get a captain who can diagnose and solve problems at sea rather than sail around them — a rare combination that keeps itineraries on schedule and charters running smoothly.
Below the surface, John is a PADI Divemaster with Tech 50, Recovery, and Safety Diver certifications, and has worked as a divemaster from Southeast Asia to the Caribbean to California. Four decades of surf travel has given him an instinct for wind, swell, and weather that few captains can match — and a deep well of local knowledge in the places guests most want to explore.
