We sail south toward Ithaca, the legendary home of Homer’s Odysseus. Our destination is Kioni, widely considered one of the most beautiful traditional settlements in Greece. This horseshoe-shaped harbor is lined with neoclassical houses draped in bougainvillea. As you approach from the sea, you’ll pass three derelict stone windmills standing like sentinels on the headland. Dive into the crystalline waters of Filiatro beach or paddleboard into hidden sea caves before enjoying a candlelit dinner on the Kioni waterfront.

Short-hop down the coast to the dramatic village of Assos. Tucked away on a tiny neck of land connecting a giant rock to the mainland, Assos is overlooked by a massive 16th-century Venetian castle. The bay is incredibly sheltered and offers some of the clearest snorkeling in the Ionian. It is a place of absolute peace, perfect for a long lunch on deck while the boat gently swings at anchor.

Explore the “miniature” island of Kastos. With only one village and a handful of residents, it is the ultimate escape from the modern world. Visit the Windmill Bar for a panoramic view of the Greek mainland, then sail back toward Ithaca to enter Vathy, the island’s capital. Vathy is located in one of the largest natural harbors in the world, featuring the tiny islet of Lazaretto in its center.

Enjoy a final breakfast on deck before disembarking. Before you leave the island, take a moment to explore the lagoons of Lefkada, a significant wetland home to migratory swans and herons, or grab a final coffee in the town’s central square.
